The Swinging 60s
Baby boomers and a sense of rising expectations led to a rise in skirt lengths never before seen. Miniskirts, which looked good on youthful figures, survived the relatively mild 1969 recession. After a lengthy expansion, the Woodstock generation was hit by runaway inflation, coupled with a new attempt to start closing the budget deficits of the Vietnam War. The result: A deep recession in the 70s.
