Then the world's third-largest telecom company, Germany's giant went public after what The Wall Street Journal called "months of an advertising blitz that convinced an unexpectedly large 1.9 million Germans to buy stock in the phone monopoly." While it still trades in Germany, in 2010, the company delisted from the New York Stock Exchange in order to "reduce complexity in financial reporting and administrative costs."
