How Many Licks?
A U.S. firm presented a transparent lollipop with an insect larva inside at Europe's largest food fair in Paris in 1996. A representative for Hotlix, a Texas food supplier, claims that kids like to show them to other kids and treat it like a dare, but also claim that they are full of nutrition and good to eat. Hotlix also markets small packets of similar dried insect larva with cheese flavouring sold as a quick snack.
