Dallas is great for getting outdoors. There are about 200 golf courses, 250 public tennis courts, 20 public swimming pools, and 22,000 acres of park area.  The city also offers at least 8 museums and dozens of adult retirement communities. It’s Texas, so summers are scorchers – high/lows of 96/77 in July;  winters are mild – 57/37 in January. Dallas’s cost of living is 12.5 percent lower than the U.S. average, according to Sperling’s Best Places.
