Buddhist monks burn Vietnamese flags made of paper as they join other protesters near the Vietnamese embassy in Phnom Penh October 8, 2014. Several hundred protesters rallied near the embassy to demand that a Vietnamese embassy official apologise for saying Kampuchea Krom had always belonged to his country. Protesters claimed that although Kampuchea Krom, also known by them as Lower Cambodia, is now part of southern Vietnam, it used to be part of Cambodia until the French gave the area to Vietnam in 1949.
