8. Supporting a cancer-stricken friend
When a Grand Junction third grader shaved her head earlier this year in support of her cancer-stricken friend, her school told her parents she couldn’t return to classes because she had violated the school’s dress code. The school administrators later on voted to approve an exception to the dress code for exceptional circumstances.
