Bye-Bye, Voice Mail
JPMorgan Chase & Co. recently made the decision to ditch voicemail. So did Coca-Cola’s headquarters in Atlanta. Voicemail is going the way of the cubicle and the Rolodex. Thanks to smartphones, which can already handle texts, emails and phone calls, landlines are increasingly becoming obsolete.
When JPMorgan eliminated voice mail services for 65 percent of its 135,908 workers, the company saved $3.2 million annually. Besides, as the parent of any teenager knows, workers and execs are much more likely to get a response to a text than a voicemail.
