The new fees seem never-ending for budget-conscience coach passengers. On more major airlines, preferred seating (i.e., aisle and window) reservations can cost as much as $29 extra each way on domestic flights, while on Allegiant Air and Spirit Airlines, any seat assignment will cost extra. What does that mean for families? If you want to all sit together in the same row, pay up. A Texas man paid $114 in fees just to reserve three adjacent seats for himself, his wife and their 4-year-old daughter on a trip to Disney World, according the AP. The news prompted Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) to issue a statement urging airlines to let families sit together.
