Bruce Dern – Down Periscope

Though Bruce Dern has over half a century of film experience, working with directing greats from Alfred Hitchcock to Quentin Tarantino, even the best can make an occasional misstep. Nothing quite says “Kiss of Death” like “mid-90’s Kelsey Grammer, submarine comedy.”

For a much better time, definitely check out 1993’s con-man/boxing dramedy “Diggstown.” Dern is at his schmoozy best as a Floridian gambler so sleazy he makes James Woods seem like the good guy.
