Leonardo DiCaprio – Celebrity

Though a decent chunk of Woody Allen’s late ‘90s output could be described as awful, “Celebrity” is usually chosen as the absolute worst. Shot in black and white with a horribly miscast Kenneth Branagh (doing a cringe-worthy Allen impression) as a tabloid journalist, the film was most noteworthy for having Leo putting a spin on his persona as a spoiled pretty boy actor with a weakness for the ladies. He was the best part of what was otherwise a train wreck.

For a much better time, Leo is also one of the best things in Sam Raimi’s pre-Spiderman spaghetti western “The Quick and The Dead.” Those who only remember this as “that Sharon Stone Western” will be pleasantly surprised at the fun that Raimi, Gene Hackman, a pre-stardom Russell Crowe and a who’s who of character actors are having with the genre. DiCaprio’s take on Billy the Kid might be the best of the bunch, and the last time he seemed to be having any fun on camera.
