World Cup 2014: Your Guide to All 32 Teams

 //

Greece - Group C

In 2004 Greece was the dark horse that went all the way in the Euro Cup (a mini-World Cup for just European countries) with a dreadful-to-watch style that has come to be labeled “anti-football”: strong, organized defensive play and a plan to break up the opposition’s attacking rhythm rather than creating one of their own. Relying on set pieces to score goals, then locking the game down to prevent the other team from scoring can be a brutally effective strategy, but it’s also brutally boring to watch.
Players to watch: Consonants…lots and lots of consonants.
Prediction: Third or fourth in the group, depending on how Japan performs.  Lord have mercy on soccer viewers’ souls if they make it out of the group stage.
