Triple Dipping
It's pretty well known that a retiree can collect unemployment insurance (if they've been laid off from work and are looking for a job) and Social Security Benefits. (One NY woman collected $3,000 a month from both plans.) But did you know they could also collect TAA benefits? What's that, you may ask? It's Trade Adjustment Assistance for people who lost their jobs because of a foreign trade deal. Why does the government allow this? Because they don't know how to track all the different federal and state unemployment benefit programs.
