11. Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24, 20th Century Fox)
Speaking of long-awaited sequels, it’s been over 20 years since Roland Emmerich first blew up the White House and the U.S. has seen no end of imitators to the revolutionary marketing blitz that propelled the original film to top of the box office. Whether the original has enough fans left, or the new one can generate enough excitement on its own to bring people to the box office remains to be seen. Anything that puts Jeff Goldblum in a spacesuit can’t be all bad, though.
